The national anthem of the Republic of India, “Jana Gana Mana,” which translates to ‘Thou Art the Ruler of the Minds of All People,’ holds a venerable position in the nation’s cultural heritage. The anthem was written by Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali on 11 December 1911. The Constituent Assembly of India adopted it as the official National Anthem on January 24, 1950.
