Recognizing the critical role of resilient, efficient, and sustainable supply chains in fostering economic growth, promoting trade, and ensuring the availability of essential goods and services, the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) hereby agree to enhance their cooperation in the following areas:
Trade Facilitation:
- Streamline customs procedures and promote the use of digital tools to expedite the movement of goods across borders.
- Enhance cooperation on the exchange of information and best practices regarding customs procedures and regulations.
Investment in Supply Chain Infrastructure:
- Collaborate on the development of modern and sustainable infrastructure, including transportation, logistics, and digital connectivity, to support efficient supply chains.
- Explore joint investment opportunities in infrastructure projects that facilitate the flow of goods and services within and between BRICS countries.
Support for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs):
- Implement programs to enhance the capacity of MSMEs to participate in global supply chains, including training and technical assistance in areas such as quality standards, e-commerce, and logistics.
- Facilitate access to finance and markets for MSMEs to support their growth and integration into regional and global supply chains.
Sustainability and Resilience:
- Promote sustainable practices in supply chain management, including the adoption of green technologies and the reduction of carbon footprints.
- Work together to enhance the resilience of supply chains against disruptions, including those caused by natural disasters and health crises, through contingency planning and risk management strategies.
Regulatory Cooperation and Standards Alignment:
- Engage in dialogue to align technical regulations, standards, and conformity assessment procedures, where appropriate, to reduce barriers to trade and facilitate the movement of goods.
- Support capacity-building efforts in regulatory areas to ensure compliance with international standards and best practices.
Professional Development and Capacity Building:
- Organize workshops, seminars, and training programs to share knowledge and best practices in supply chain management and related areas.
- Encourage the exchange of scholars, researchers, and practitioners to foster ongoing learning and collaboration.
By committing to this initiative, the BRICS nations aim to strengthen their supply chains, enhance trade efficiency, and contribute to the global economic recovery and sustainable development.
