The 10th Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Education was held on July 13, 2023, at the Skukuza Safari Lodge in Mpumalanga Province, South Africa. This meeting was part of the BRICS education engagements hosted as a build-up to the 15th BRICS Heads of State Summit scheduled for August 2023.Key points about the meeting:

1. Theme: The meeting was held under the theme “Responsive and Relevant Education and Training in the Current Global Context”.
2. Participants: Ministers of Education and delegates from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa attended. Namibia was present as a special invited guest country.
3. Outcomes: The Ministers deliberated and adopted a Ministerial Declaration, making firm commitments on eight thematic areas identified as education and training priorities for BRICS Member States.
4. Thematic areas: These included climate change, entrepreneurship development, skills for the changing world, mutual recognition of qualifications, out-of-school youth, labor market intelligence, university global ranking and quality evaluation system, and early childhood development.
5. Parallel meetings: The BRICS Network University and BRICS TVET Cooperation Alliance also held meetings, resulting in declarations where member states committed to working together on matters of mutual interest.
6. Commitments: Some key commitments made during the meeting include:
   • Combating climate change through education and awareness
   • Rethinking global university rankings
   • Strengthening entrepreneurship development
   • Delivering programs for out-of-school youth
   • Using labor market intelligence to identify in-demand skills
   • Improving higher education quality through mutual recognition of qualifications
   • Enhancing early childhood development

The meeting was part of a two-day event from July 12-13, 2023, which also included the BRICS Education Senior Officials Meeting. These education engagements were designed to deepen cooperation and exchanges among BRICS Member States to improve the responsiveness and relevance of education and training in the current global context
