BRICS Business Council (BBC) Meets in Moscow to Boost Economic Cooperation
The BRICS Business Council annual meeting kicked off in Moscow on October 17, marking the start of the BRICS Business Forum. The meeting brought together representatives from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, UAE, and Ethiopia to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation among the BRICS countries.
Enhancing Financial Settlements and Digital Economy
The BRICS Business Council emphasized key priorities for economic cooperation. Firstly, it stressed the need to enhance transport and logistics connectivity among member nations. Additionally, the council highlighted the importance of improving communication channels. Moreover, it called for a robust financial settlement system. The council also underscored the significance of building a unified digital infrastructure. Finally, it emphasized collaboration in artificial intelligence to boost trade and investment. According to Katyrin, the Business Council has around 40 recommendations in its portfolio, covering all areas of its work. The integration of new members into the group has been successfully completed, and next year, representatives from new BRICS countries will fully immerse themselves in the business agenda.
“In addition, we have successfully completed the integration of new members into the group,” Katyrin added. “This will lead to a significant expansion of trade and investment opportunities among the BRICS countries.”
Strengthening Cooperation and Sustainable Development
The BRICS Business Council plays a vital role in promoting economic cooperation and sustainable development among the member countries. The Council’s working groups focus on key areas such as agribusiness, digital economy, energy and the green economy, financial services, infrastructure, manufacturing, aviation, trade, investment, and skills development. These groups work together to remove barriers to trade and investment, promoting mutually beneficial cooperation among the BRICS countries.
Annual Report and Upcoming BRICS Summit
The BRICS Business Council has finalized its Annual Report for presentation at the upcoming Kazan summit. This comprehensive document incorporates various proposals and initiatives from the council’s working groups. Moreover, it outlines key strategies to enhance trade and investment among member nations. The summit, set for October 22-24, will attract delegates from more than 30 countries. Furthermore, representatives from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America will participate in this high-level gathering.
