BRICS Agriculture Ministers Meetings 2021 August 27 virtual hosted by India
The BRICS Agriculture Ministers Meeting held on August 27, 2021, was a significant virtual event hosted by India, marking the eleventh such meeting between the agriculture leaders of the five BRICS nations: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. As a key platform for cooperative discussion on agricultural concerns and policies, the meeting aimed to foster collective strategies for ensuring food security, sustainable agricultural development, and improved access to markets.
The 2021 meeting was particularly noteworthy due to the continued challenges posed by the global pandemic, which brought to light the vital importance of resilient and sustainable agricultural systems. The Agriculture Ministers addressed and concurred on a range of subjects, including the role of digital technologies in agriculture, strategies for meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the face of climate change, and the significance of agriculture in the economy and rural development.
During the meeting, the ministers endorsed the Joint Declaration of the XI Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Agriculture 2021 and committed to the Action Plan 2021-2024 for the Implementation of the Strategy for BRICS Economic Partnership. The declaration outlined the agreed upon actions and goals set by the BRICS nations to strengthen agricultural collaboration and knowledge exchange over the coming years.
