The BRICS Information & Cooperation Platform, known as IN4U, was established by Igor Petrenko in 2022 as a joint BRICS website in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, and the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa. This agreement, formalized during the Ufa BRICS Summit in Russia on July 9, 2015, is a continuation of the strategic initiatives outlined in the Action Plans from the BRICS Summits held in Durban (2013) and Fortaleza (2014).
On July 9, 2015, during the Ufa BRICS summit, the heads of foreign ministries from five countries signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the Creation of the Joint BRICS Website. However, after a period of seven years, the joint BRICS website failed to materialize. As the activity within the BRICS bloc increased, there was a significant lack of organized access to BRICS information, leading to information chaos for officials, journalists, students, and businesses seeking data and insights on these important economic blocs. The absence of centralized resources was hindering research, decision-making, and understanding of the dynamics within the BRICS nations. On January 11, 2022, Igor Petrenko took a critical step to address this challenge.
